We absolutely love the awesome creative community that we get to work with and are so excited to share more about them right here! These ladies aren’t just hard workers, they are hustlers! Many have children or second jobs and run their households while also running businesses. We want to applaud, encourage and support them!
Our box was born not only out of a desire to help others indulge for themselves every now and then, but also out of our passion to empower and help grow other small, handmade and women-owned businesses.We will be sharing more about these amazing shops and the women behind them each week.
Today we would like to introduce you to Maddy and Krystyn from Beyond the Nail @beyondthenail , makers of adorable nail polish!
What are your favorite ways to treat yourself?
Maddy: I love going to a spa or out for dinner.
Krystyn: A nice bottle of wine or a fancy cheese.
What’s your favorite sweet treat?:
Maddy: My favourite sweet treat are Fuzzy Peaches.
Krystyn: My favourite sweet treat is also Fuzzy Peaches!
Which do you prefer milk or dark chocolate?:
We both prefer milk chocolate!
What is your favorite time of day to create?:
We usually create new nail polishes in the afternoon so we can see how they look in daylight, and can photograph them in natural lighting (it especially helps with neon or holographic nail polishes!).
What’s your favorite holiday?:
We love Christmas because we get a lot of custom orders for gifts. It’s always fun to collaborate on a new polish or decal!
What color describes your personality best?:
Maddy: Purple!
Krystyn: I think red describes me best.
If you had one what was the name of your childhood imaginary friend?:
Maddy: My imaginary friend was named Kelly.
What makes your life sweeter?:
When our customers give us such positive reviews on our nail polish and nail vinyls! It shows that all our hard work is paying off, and it makes us really happy when we see people loving our products.
Why do you create what you create?:
We both loved painting our nails and thought it would be fun to work together in a business that we would both enjoy.

What advice would you give someone just starting out selling handmade?:
We would tell people to do your research first! Creating items can be expensive, so buying in bulk is less expensive; but if you don’t research properly, you could spend a lot of money on products you don’t need.

Beyond the Nail was started in February 2013 by two sisters: Krystyn & Maddy 🙂
We started our nail polish line when we realized how obsessed we were with doing our own nails! We decided to collaborate on a line of our own and create high quality, one of a kind products. We decided on naming it Beyond the Nail because we wanted to show off that nails can be much more than that! Nails are a way of showing off creativity, and we hope our products can help people show them off!
